We are based near the heart of Manningtree. We are a family run business established since 2007 and pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality food using only quality and fresh ingredients. Riverside strive to maintain the highest possible standards of customer service in the best possible environment, which can only be provided by dedicated colleagues who gain satisfaction by knowing that many of our customers will become our friends.
Riverside fish and chips have been awarded a five-star rating by Environmental Health after a rigorous inspection found excellent food hygiene throughout our shop and van. This achievement is the highest rating a fish and chip shop can receive from Environmental Health officers, and shows that we at Riverside has complied with statutory obligations by showing outstanding food hygiene standards. Riverside Fish and Chips have been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) since established in 2007 and highly pride ourselves to maintain this for years to come. As of this year (2021) Essex live news rated us as one of the most hygienic fish & chip shops within Essex.
What makes Riverside different? We leave no stone unturned to consistently delivering quality fresh food to you day in day out, When we say fresh, we mean it – our fish is never frozen. Delivered to us throughout the week from a fantastic supplier based in Ipswich called F.A.S, It has been a pleasure to have been doing business since we began back In 2007. F.A.S have been a massive part of understanding our high expectations on the quality consistency and keeping the persistency week in week out. As time over the years have gone by relationships between us and the team at F.A.S have thrived, a massive cause of this was due to a gentlemen called Chris, Chris was a massive part of bringing the consistency, the excellent communication and most of all the trust and understanding of both sides.
Due to the trust and friendship of one and another, question arose in where this quality of product every week was coming from. This is when Chris put us at Riverside in touch with a man he deals with and trusts massively. This gentlemen’s called Glen from a factory in Grimsby called Marrfish, of which he runs and oversees every filet that comes through our door to the highest standard.
What this man doesn’t know about fish is not worth knowing. It was a pleasure to finally shake hands and meet Glen in 2021. Tragically, our meeting was not the way we intended it to be. Sadly, we lost Chris in 2021 a gentleman that touched many hearts and we thank massively in the help in the growth of Riverside. From all of us at Riverside, our love goes out to the family and love ones of this wonderful man. A Gentlemen called Steven took over from Chris to which I was informed he worked alongside Chris for many years, my reply was, Good luck filling them shoes. However, Steven, I must say you jumped in the deep end landing us as a customer from Chris and you swam beautifully, you could tell that these two worked alongside each other for many years. I was then told that Steven was retiring very soon and Riverside would be handed over to a gentlemen named Lewis. We are very new in operations with Lewis but he is doing fantastic. We would also like to thank all the team at F.A.S Ipswich for continuing a job that Chris did exquisitely. Good luck team! P.S Steven, Myself and Glen have come to an agreement that part time is fine!
There is no point in having fresh fish if you don’t cook it properly. At Riverside we only fry using the finest, which delivers a better taste and is maintained to the highest standards! Potatoes and other fresh produce are locally sourced from a fantastic potato merchant called O.B.Denison & Son’s which over the years have helped to maintain top quality so we can guarantee the perfection that we pride ourselves to supply.
